Fireplace Design
On arrival to the place where the fireplace will be installed, our specialists will inspect and determine the appropriateness of chimney to use, and after talking to a customer or a customer's architect, will advise on which fireplace type best to install, how to choose the capsule. After the agreed time (usually 3-4 days), you will be given a few fireplace options, depending on your preferences, a room interior and financial capabilities.
FIS-Fireplace Installation Services does not offer the typical (‘standard’) fireplaces. Each fireplace is designed individually. In our view, there is no exactly the same interior, and because of it not each fireplace can be fitted in and become a part of interior. With that in mind, each fireplace is aimed to be an individual solution. We welcome the fact that these days the number of 'standard' customer opinions is significantly decreasing.
Finishing Materials
FIS-Fireplace Installation Services mostly uses these fireplace finish materials:
1. Marble or Granite Finish
Marble (granite) is typically used for the lower and upper fireplace shelves, fireplace lintel, sometimes for fireplace columns, and rarely for the plinth part (the lower part of the fireplace shelf). Fireplace "safety zone", which is the floor area in front of the fireplace, is also often made of marble (granite), using the same marble (granite) as for the fireplace finish.
The main advantages of this kind of finish:
- Practical in cleaning – simply wipe away with a damp cloth.
- Marble (granite) slabs usually are of large dimensions (e.g., 1.5 × 2.0 m, 1.5 × 3.0 m, etc.). It allows making a product with a few joints, or completely avoiding them.
- Marble (granite), in our opinion, is the best material when choosing what the shelf, which is in front of capsule, should be made of, or the other fireplace ‘heat spots’.
- Marble (granite) is a universal finishing material – it could be suitable for any style/type of fireplaces ("country", classical or modern style).
- When choosing marble (granite) finish, virtually there are no limitations on product shape, thickness or dimensions. What is more, it has a wide range of colours to choose from. You can choose not only the colour, but also the pattern – it could be of different ‘intensity’, structure and surface ‘gloss’ (opaque, porous, glossy, etc.).
The price of marble (granite) finish depends on what kind of marble (granite) is chosen (prices could vary), how much materials are used (price is calculated per 1 m2) and "complexity" of the fireplace (whether curved shapes are chosen, or angles of 45 ° are used on the marble slabs, etc.).
2. Timber Finish
The most commonly used timber – oak, ash.
There are also no limitations on product shape, thickness or dimensions. Product color could be natural, as well as any other, maintaining the visual texture of natural wood.
Timber finish is mainly used in classical and "country" style fireplaces. It is not recommended to use in fireplace "heat spots" (lower shelves, fireplace frame, etc.).
Timber finish price depends on the product "complexity" and the quantity of raw materials used.
3. Other Finishes
In addition to marble (granite) and timber, we use a variety of stone and ceramic tile finishes (commonly used as a marble (granite) substitute to reduce the cost of fireplaces).
For "country" style fireplace finish, natural dolomite or chopped granite tiles are often used, sometimes – clay bricks (usually with "aged" effect). Less often (because of relatively high cost of the work) for modern style fireplace decoration, besides marble and granite, such finishes as stainless steel sheets, copper and brass sheets, could be used.
We briefly mentioned only the most popular and commonly used finishes; to list all –it’s probably impossible.
Probably we should mention interior materials that we do not use. The only decoration material which is not used – tiles (often used for stoves, charcoal-burners). This is a great heat "battery", which could sustain heat for long and release it efficiently. In our opinion, it is a perfect finish for stoves but not for fireplaces. Stove’s operating principle – "accumulated" (passed through the channels, hot smoke heats up stove’s surfaces (in this case – tiles), and the heat is released from the surface to a room, where the stove is placed.
Prices and Discounts
Probably one of the most popular questions – what the price of the fireplace is based on?
The main components, which most affect the price of fireplaces, are as follows:
- Fireplace capsule. Its price could vary from 500 EUR (or less) up to 3000 EUR (or more). It depends on the manufacturer, purpose (frequent or rare use, divided to classes), capsule size, fireplace door shape (curved, prismatic or plain glass, and where two or more glasses are used), door opening mechanism (lifting or lacing), thermal power, etc.
- Fireplace finish. E.g., if it is the marble (granite) finish, the price will depend on the amount of raw materials used, decorative details and complexity. If some details (not the heat zone) are replaced with timber (ash or oak) – the price will be lower, if decorative tiles are chosen – the price will be further reduced.
- Installation work. Cost of installation services, structural and auxiliary materials used, as well as transportation/gathering costs. Each of these parameters could vary from 100-500 EUR.
FIS-Fireplace Installation Services has a flexible discount system:
- Discount applies if the customer orders a full package of services (from design to full completion of the work).
- Discount for a capsule, if the fireplace is ordered from FIS-Fireplace Installation Services.
- Discounts apply if paying more than 50% (of the total amount due) in advance. On the separate agreement, discounts could be applied under certain circumstances.
